    Fixed Assets Accounting Manager

    Job Description

    The individual will be responsible for all fixed asset and lease accounting matters in the Financial Control team, including financial reporting under IFRS, and GAAP for US and Group reporting purposes, regulatory reporting to the SEC and other regulatory bodies in addition to reporting to the business units and senior management committees the financial performance of the business units and the company.

    Role and Responsibilities

    Assist with financial reporting related to fixed assets, capital and operating leases of the company for IFRS, and GAAP reporting purposes, including:

    • participating in the month end close process
    • closing the books for the month
    • analyzing results and ensuring accuracy
    • review month end financial statements and report on variance fluctuations
    • prepare various head office templates for external reporting at quarter and year end
    • reconcile balance sheet and p&l accounts
    • prepare and analyze various lease and fixed asset transactions
    • assist with internal, SOX and external audit inquiries and prepare necessary workpapers as required.

    Work closely with Real Estate Managers and lease manager.
    Develop and prepare Fixed Asset and Lease reporting package for CFO.  
    Assist and initiate process and system changes including as a result of the following: 

    • new businesses, products or activities
    • new reporting/accounting requirements (including the introduction of international standards for Group purposes)
    • new systems in Finance and the wider organization

    Get involved with various projects as required and support and prepare ad-hoc analysis for CFO and firm business units as requested

    Fixed Income Product Controller

    The Product Controller produces and maintains P/L activities for the related Fixed Income, Equities and Investment Banking business strategies. The position requires a professional able to work closely with various traders and able to manage the integrity of the local general ledger.

    This is a highly visible role due the nature of the position.  The results reported by the individual are relied upon by the Senior Product Controller, upper management and front offices to manage the businesses and financial reports which are reported to the head office.

  • Assemble, organize and produce the P/L statements to be reviewed by Front Office and the Senior Product Controller. This requires the individual to extract data from the various front, middle and back office systems and produce recs between the systems.  All discrepancies generated in the rec will be researched, documented and justified.
  • This individual will also ensure that variances to Desk Estimates are adequately explained, that reported P&L is reconciled to GL and that Inventory and related accounts on the Balance Sheet are substantiated.
  • Work with Financial Control with the maintenance of the local and global general ledger.  This individual will provide Financial Control with the local general ledger balance sheet at month end and provide support when requested.
  • The analyst will  assist the Senior Product Controller in fulfilling head office requests for information about general ledger entries, variances of monthly and quarter results, and audit requests.
  • Escalate issues and assist the Senior Product Controller to resolve.  Each analyst will also be responsible for learning and performing the back up duties for the various P/L. This individual should be able to produce and send out the daily P/L in the absence of the primary analyst.
  • Maintain and update daily and monthly PNL procedure.
  • Reconciliation, reporting and verification of accuracy of P/L decomposition report.
  • Requirements:

    The individual must possess an excellent understanding of P/L production, product knowledge  and balance sheet maintenance. Experienced professional in Capital Markets product control environments with excellent technical understanding of capital market products. Strong Accounting knowledge, Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss Statement. Strong knowledge of Fixed Income products (Rates, Credit, MBS) is required.

    Financial Reporting Senior Associate (SEC Reporting)

    SEC Financial Reporting is a sub-group within Financial Reporting responsible for preparing the firm’s quarterly and annual SEC filings (ie: 10-Q, 10-K).

    The Senior Associate will assist in the preparation of the firm’s monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements, related footnotes and balance sheet management reporting. This involves consolidating the firmwide balance sheets and collecting supplemental information from worldwide Senior Accounting Officers (SAOs), preparing elimination / adjustment entries, performing fluctuation analyses on account balances and drafting financial statement disclosures.

    • Act as a liaison between the SAOs, Product Controllers, Management Reporting, Accounting Policy and other internal departments in order to ensure that reporting requirements are satisfied. 
    • Assist in the preparation of other required filings (including filings with the Federal Reserve), perform competitor analysis regarding financial statement disclosures, and provide guidance to SAOs and Product Controllers on quarter end processes.   
    • Involvement in ad hoc projects with various departments during the off-quarters such as implementing procedures to comply with new FASB pronouncements, updating policies and procedures, system integrations, and proposing improvements and efficiencies to existing reporting processes.
    • Assist in the global consolidation process and in maintaining control over consolidating legal entities.
    • Assist with the preparation of the monthly and quarterly consolidated financial statements, footnotes, financial statement review packages and other information used for regulatory purposes.
    • Play a critical role in assessing the reporting implications of changes in U.S. GAAP, ensuring compliance with new standards/interpretations, interfacing with those who provide financial information (including Product Controllers and SAOs) to provide a clear understanding of reporting requirements and evaluating the adequacy of information received from other groups in the context of ever-evolving reporting standards.
    • Be actively participate in cross-functional projects.

     A CPA with 5+ years experience in auditing financial organisations with some SEC experience is preferred.

    Senior Accountant - Bank Holding Company

    We are seeking an individual to join the Parent Company team within Corporate Accounting. The team is responsible for maintaining the books and records of the Parent Bank Holding Company.  In addition, the team is responsible for external Federal and SEC financial statement reporting, funding subsidiary operations, and managing non-trading currency exposure, capital planning, projections and, analysis and reporting of the Firms’ equity position.

    This individual will share responsibility in the production, oversight and review of information for management reporting and external reporting, firmwide budgeting, equity projections’ and ad-hoc requests.  

    This will entail working closely with other teams within Corporate Accounting, as well as throughout the firm (e.g. Corporate Treasury, Funding, and Tax).  All reporting that relates to the capital of the firm.

    Fund the 800 subsidaries of the firm, with a focus on Equity and overseeing projections & production of equity related numbers

    • Participate in the preparation and review of the Parent Co. stand alone financial statements (FR Y -9LP and 10K)

    Accounting Manager - Bank

    The Accounting Managerwill be part of the overall Controllers team, specifically supporting the Private Wealth Management (PWM) business.  The successful candidate will develop an understanding of the PWM brokerage business and be responsible for preparing and analyzing the related p&ls as well as handling management reporting. The role provides exposure to various products and businesses across the firm and interaction with the Business, Operations, Technology and other Controllers teams.  The candidate will also participate in various IT projects and manage junior staff.

    Principal Responsibilities:

    • Develop a broad understanding of the PWM business and related products, data flows and accounting procedures.
    • Prepare, review and analyze brokerage p&ls, which includes daily p&l reporting and variance analysis, daily customer balance and liquidity reports, revenue and funding analyses, and responsibility for the month-end close process.
    • Prepare and review management reports and analysis to highlight specific p&l drivers, revenue trends and key business metrics.
    • Create and implement new management reports and control procedures around p&l processes and reporting.
    • Manage PWM Controllers responsibilities as part of cross-divisional projects related to PWM geographic and product expansion.

    Financial Accounting Manager - Insurance

    The Finance Close Manager is responsible for assisting with and tracking the overall mobilization and management of the quarterly close process liaising with Finance team members in the Corporate office, Regional offices and Reporting Offices.  He/She has oversight over the issues that originate in the Corporate office and in the regions and is responsible for preparing management status reporting highlighting key issues to senior management.  Main responsibilities include:

    • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders in the Corporate office as well as the regional offices to manage expectations of service, including deliverables, timing and value to be delivered for the quarterly Financial Close process.
    • Act as liaison and a primary communication channel between the region and Corporate office on issue resolution, status reporting, project execution and prioritization.
    • Set up, lead and participate in quarterly close status meetings and engage key stakeholders in assuring timely information and update for these meetings.
    • Identify and prioritize key issues given resource and timing constraints and shifting management priorities.
    • Work with the Sharepoint system assuring that all issues lists, post close journal entries and SAB 99's are being managed and addressed in a timely manner.
    • Manage internal and external dependencies and liaise with regional and reporting offices on various finance close related tracking and issues.
    • Ensure key risks and issues are identified, documented, mitigated and communicated to the appropriate stakeholders and senior management in a timely manner.
    • Adopt project management processes including risk and issue management, dependency management, status reporting, change control, etc.
    • Manage the day to day activities for the 302 Certification quarterly process.
    • Work with the Corporate Office and Regional Offices to accumulate information to facilitate the Regional scorecard process.
    • Organize and participate in after action reviews and ensure lessons learned are integrated into the Finance Close process.
    • Provide assistance and guidance to Finance Close staff as assist with the quarterly close as requested and needed.
    • Accountable to the Finance Close Director in the Office of the Chief Accounting Officer for  International businesses.
    • Responsible for representing the Office of the Chief Accounting Officer on cross functional project initiatives in Finance

    Senior Reporting Analyst

    Management Reporting is looking for additional resources at Associate and/or Assistant Vice-President level. The focus of resources to be built-up is related to the management/portfolio reporting function.

    As a member of the portfolio reporting team you have to support and facilitate:

    • the maintenance and continuing evolution of strategic risk management reports to adequately present the risk profile of the bank on the one hand and to appropriately serve the different but specific needs of the addressees of the reports and presentations on the other hand
    • the design and production process of specific strategic presentations to be held by the CRO
    • the design and implementation process of quality assurance and reconciliation procedures
    • the analysis of existing interfaces to risk management units and Ops units and to design / re-structure roles and responsibilities and handshakes
    • the roll-out of the designed / agreed procedures and review points / functions into the day-to-day business across the bank and on a global basis

    The level of skill-set, seniority and experience will form the basis of what type of role the respective candidate is able to assume within the portfolio reporting team.

    Management Reporting is the overall co-ordinating function with regards to the strategic risk reporting to management or governance bodies within the bank like the management board or the supervisory board (including respective committees with delegated authorities) or to related parties outside the bank (regulators, shareholders, analysts, etc). 

    MR is part of the COO organisation and acts as a support function to ensure transparent and consistent risk reporting (especially with regards to the financial reporting of the bank) in a robust framework and production environment.

    The Management Reporting Function has the following responsibilities:

    • Facilitate the strategic risk reporting process, including:
    • Design of risk management reports in co-operation with the respective risk management units (Credit Risk, Market Risk, Investment Risk, Operational Risk and Treasury Risk);
    • Design and roll-out of respective data collection procedures in co-operation with the Risk Ops organisation;
    • Facilitate and quality assure the production procedures and delivery of respective strategic risk management reports;
    • Perform reconciliation procedures between numbers used in the defined risk management reports and the Bank’s financials produced by the respective Finance functions;
    • Trigger data quality and process improvements based on own observations and analysis;
    • Serve as the central entry point for all risk related reporting requests on a management level.
    • Organize / manage the Office of the Chief Risk Officer which serves as a support function in a variety of related topics.

    Organize / manage the global function of Asset Quality Review as the central and independent quality assurance function within Credit Risk Management for all counterparty ratings – future remit being to act as an independent review / consultancy function for the entire organisation and across all risks and related process frameworks.
